Ecological Survey: Scoping
Covering an area of approximately 14 ha, the Lingholm Estate comprises a large manor house and ancillary buildings in a designed landscape. The Grade II listed manor house was constructed in the 1870’s. The children’s author, Beatrix Potter, spent summer holidays at Lingholm and wrote several of her books there.
Lloydbore were commissioned by Shaw & Jagger to conduct an ecological appraisal of the estate to inform a planning application for extensive development of the existing properties and within the grounds.
Lloyd Bore undertook extensive bat surveys, using teams of specialists to ensure comprehensive coverage of the site. A number of bat roosts were discovered.
We also surveyed for birds, badgers, otters, red squirrels, reptiles and amphibians, as well as undertaking botanical scoping surveys.
As a consequence, Lloyd Bore were able to develop relevant mitigation strategies necessary to fulfil planning requirements.
